The Kootenay carabiner is by far my favorite carabiner. The unique design lends itself well to separating temporary holdings and utility. I use it to clip to a belt loop mostly, but have used the added back clip on pants where I don't have loops. I have found the Kootenay easy to use and very comfortable to hold as well. My fingers fit in the holes and it feels very secure that way as well.

The Kootenay carabiner is an interesting design, unfortunately in comparison with an ‘ordinary’ carabiner, it scores rather higher on looks rather than performance. For one thing, single handed utilisation of an ordinary carabiner is a lot easier than with the Kootenay. That doesn’t mean it’s not worth getting, for once you’ve locked something into the lower section, it’s certainly not going to get loose again on its own ~ but it’s certainly not going to get as much use by me compared to other, simpler designs.

Overall, it's a nice carabiner. It feels solid and has a nice weight. However, The moveable piece that you push back to slip keys on is not quite as sturdy as I would like. It moves a little and doesn't feel quite secure. It might be that the spring holding it in place isn't that strong. I don't think I'm in danger of losing keys, but I wonder how long the spring mounted piece will last.
By far the coolest carabiner I've owned to date. I've tried a few titanium carabiners, but they all lacked one feature or another. This one had everything I was looking for in 1 unique looking clip so that justified the price tag for me.
Well made, unique design
Still finding new things to do with this carabiner. It looks great, which never hurts when I’m adding something to my EDC load out. The utility of the deep pocket clip can’t be overstated for holding lighter items. I haven’t put this to the test, yet, but this is a lot more sturdy than the s-shaped carabiner it replaced.
